Chel Ski

The Client

‘Bringing the Alps to Chelsea’, Chel Ski is London’s largest indoor ski centre, using rolling slopes to provide unlimited ski or snowboarding for their customers without leaving London.

Ideal both for those wanting to brush up on their skills before a holiday and for complete beginners, it proved incredibly popular and quickly felt the need for online booking.

Their Problem

Due to the nature of the slopes a number of restrictions on bookings needed to be put in place; visitors of different abilities couldn’t be on the slope at the same time as the incline was adjusted in line with their capability and skiers and snowboarders likewise required different sessions. Chel Ski also had two separate slopes available, each of which had to adhere to these rules which made automated bookings more complicated than the norm; this was where we came in.

Our Solution

We had already built a bespoke website for Chel Ski, focusing on introducing a fun, responsive design, with high impact full-screen graphics, to deliver an internet marketing strategy which increased digital footfall.

Now, working with Chel Ski’s existing ticketing provider, we designed and implemented a custom front end which allowed the customer to specify their activity, ability level, and requirements before pulling any applicable sessions from the ticketing provider’s API so that the customer was only presented with sessions which were either entirely unbooked or only booked by other customers with the same requirements as themselves. Once the customer had selected their preferred date and time we were then able to pass them across to the ticketing site with this information already selected in order to complete their purchase.

The Result

The new interface made a significant difference to the business, allowing staff to focus on giving customers the best possible experience rather than being tied up in administration and complicated bookings, and as a result of the success we were commissioned to build a new, modern, website for Clip N Climb Chelsea, Chel Ski’s sister business.
